The Science Behind The PRP Hair Treatment

The Science Behind The PRP Hair Treatment

hair mesotherapy results. PRP hair treatment.

This week, we wanted to explore the science behind the platelet-rich plasma treatment for hair loss. One of our top in-house Doctors, Dr Mariem, has answered the most frequently asked questions about our PRP Hair Treatment. Keep reading on for more!

What is PRP?

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is obtained from the patient’s blood by drawing blood from the patient and putting it into a centrifuge machine to separate the plasma from it. The plasma contains platelets, polynucleotides, growth factors, cytokines, chemokines, and other biomolecules like fibrinogen and fibronectin. Platelet-rich plasma can be used as a skin booster and a hair-loss treatment! This is why the medical skincare community is obsessed with them!

How does Platelet-Rich Plasma for hair loss work?

PRP hair therapy stimulates hair growth and thickness and also prevents the hair follicles from shedding prematurely. Platelet-rich plasma provides nutrition to the hair, making it healthier and more dense.

How does PPR hair therapy affect males suffering from alopecia?

The men who suffer from alopecia and male pattern baldness benefit the most from PRP hair therapy. It stimulates the hair follicles, causing new hair to sprout. Furthermore, the shafts of the existing hair are thicker and healthier, making it look more dense. If that wasn’t enough, platelet-rich plasma also strengthens the hair’s roots, making them resistant to fall and restoring hair.

How does hair look dense after PRP hair therapy?

After PRP hair therapy, there is less shaft breakage, less hair fall, and thick hair shaft and new hair sprouting from hair follicles, all this together make hair look more dense and healthy.

How does PRP affect stress-related hair loss?

With PRP, hair is nourished, and hence, it overcomes the effect of stress-related hairlessness. In times of stress, food intake is less, and because of fewer vitamins and minerals in our diet, our hair is affected directly, and starts shedding off. So when one area is targeted in terms of providing nutrition, then it becomes stronger, and hence, hair fall stops and new hair comes. Also, PRP overcomes the effect of hormone-related hair loss in times of stress.

Final words

In conclusion, PRP hair therapy not only helps to make hair healthy and thick but also boosts confidence and overall appearance. With a dense hairline, you will look 10 years younger than your present age.

Dermamelan Intimate Peel Review

Dermamelan Intimate Peel

At Continental Skin Clinic, we understand the importance of feeling confident and comfortable in every aspect of your skin. In this blog post, I’m very excited to introduce you to our Dermamelan Intimate Peel Treatment. It’s essentially a solution designed to address pigmentation and improve the overall appearance of the intimate area! So join me as we delve into the details of this incredible treatment and look at Dermamelan peel reviews from clients sharing their personal experiences.

Understanding The Dermamelan Intimate Peel

dermamelan intimate peel. dermamelan reviews.

The Dermamelan Intimate Peel Treatment is a unique solution for addressing pigmentation concerns in the intimate area. As a woman, I know our intimate areas can be topics of discussion that get pushed out of the media. These conversations often get pushed to one side, or discarded with looks of shock or disgust. But I’m here to bring this conversation back to where it belongs- the spotlight. Did you know most products made for women are made by men? Did you know that before the 1970’s, often these products made for women made by men were not even tested on women? Well, it’s 2024 and it’s time we speak up more, push our way to the front, and discuss our intimate areas if we want to!

So, back to our intimate area! It’s not uncommon for our intimate areas to be a darker, more uneven tone compared to the rest of our body. And it’s not uncommon for us to want to change that. Well, the Dermamelan intimate peel is designed to do exactly that. The peel combines a powerful blend of active ingredients, such as kojic acid, arbutin, and salicylic acid. These active ingredients effectively target melanin production and therefore reduce hyperpigmentation.

Not only does the peel inhibit melanin production, it also promotes cell turnover. This is how the Dermamelan Intimate Peel helps to lighten dark spots, even out skin tone, and restore a more youthful appearance. The intimate areas include the underarms, the genito-perineal zone, the perianal zone, the mons pubis, the inner thighs and the groin.

What to Expect Before the Dermamelan Intimate Peel Treatment:

Prior to the Dermamelan Intimate Peel Treatment, all of our clients undergo a thorough consultation with one of our GMC registered doctors or advanced technicians. During this consultation, we really take the time to discuss and understand your skin concerns, medical history, and treatment goals. Once deciding whether the Dermamelan Intimate Peel is the right option for you, we can get you booked in. We also provide detailed instructions on how to prepare for the treatment, including any pre-treatment skincare regimens or precautions.

What to Expect After the Dermamelan Intimate Peel Treatment:

Following treatment, you may experience some redness, swelling, and mild discomfort in the treated area. However this typically subsides within a few days. It’s important to follow our post-treatment instructions, such as avoiding sun exposure, wearing loose clothing, and using gentle skincare products. Over the following weeks, you will begin to notice a gradual improvement in the appearance of pigmentation as the skin undergoes cell turnover and inhibition of melanin.

We also send you home with Dermamelan home maintenance cream as after-care. This will help to enhance the results of the dermamelan intimate peel.

Now for the part you’ve all been waiting for… Keep scrolling for the dermamelan peel reviews!

FAQ’s:

How does the Dermamelan Intimate Peel work?

The Dermamelan Intimate peel involves a two-phase protocol designed to address hyperpigmentation. The initial phase takes place during an in clinic treatment, where an intensive depigmentation action is achieved through the application of a peel and mask, to deeply exfoliate your skin and break down the melanocytes.

The second phase takes place at home, 48 hours after completing the in-clinic treatment. During this phase, the Dermamelan intimate peeling gel is applied at night. Following the specific guidelines and recommendations given by the professional is essential. Monitoring and following the home protocol diligently are essential to achieve the desired results in both the short and long term.

Is the Dermamelan Intimate Peel Painless?

During the initial phase and after the treatment in the clinic, the skin will be red and may feel hot. But this sensation is mild, expected, and disappears after 24-48 hours. During the at-home stage, minor peeling is normal. The area may feel sensitive at times. These effects clear up after applying the home products recommended by your specialist.

Will the hyperpigmentation in my intimate area disappear completely and forever?

After treatment, your hyperpigmentation will be significantly reduced. However, wherever there was hyper-pigmented spot, there will always be a tendency for it to reappear. Therefore, it’s essential to adhere to the aftercare; using the Dermamelan intimate peel gel and avoiding direct exposure to the sun.

Furthermore, it is recommended to do a full course of laser hair removal. This is because sometimes the darkness of hair follicles can be misunderstood as hyperpigmentation. Another reason why this procedure should be done after or combined with laser hair removal is that excess hair can cause hyperpigmentation and ingrown hairs.

Laser Hair Removal: 5 Common Misconceptions

Laser Hair Removal

Laser hair removal (LHR) is a popular cosmetic procedure that offers a long-term reduction of unwanted hair. However, many misconceptions surround this treatment. In this blog post, we delve into the science and misconceptions of LHR and introduce our new laser hair removal machine!

How Does LHR Work?

Our specialists use selective photothermolysis during your LHR treatment to eliminate unwanted hair. The heat emitting from the laser kills the pigments in the hair follicles, destroying them and preventing further hair growth in treatment areas. Our LHR treatment targets many different body parts, including the face, underarms, back, bikini area, and legs.

LHR removes in-grown hairs, eliminating the need to shave and wax regularly. It’s also the best procedure to target unwanted hairs from different areas of your body without damaging surrounding areas due to its high precision.

laser hair removal london. laser hair removal skin clinic.

Furthermore, LHR saves time. So, if you want a quick hair removal process, meet our full-body laser technician professionals to help. Large treatment areas like the back and legs are treated within an hour, while small treatment areas like the upper lip are done in a minute. In the long run, LHR saves you money. Rather than spend on constant shaving, waxing and tweezing appointments, a treatment eradicates unwanted hair permanently.

Our LHR works for both men and women. At the end of the day, hair is hair, and at Continental Skin Clinic, the important thing is that we treat your concerns regardless of gender. So whether you’re a man or woman who desperately wants to be hair-free for the foreseeable future, you can receive treatment with us!

Now, onto the juicy bit, you’ve all been waiting for; I’ve gathered 5 common laser hair removal misconceptions and asked our team of doctors and laser technicians to help me debunk them!

5 Laser Hair Removal Myths Debunked

laser hair removal london. laser hair removal machine.

Misconception 1: Laser Hair Removal Is Painful

If you’re one of the many people who believe LHR is a painful procedure, you’re not alone! However, you’ll be pleased to know that with advancements in technology and numbing creams available, the discomfort associated with laser hair removal is minimal. There are two reasons for any pain to be experienced: the area and the skin tone.

The Area and Skin Tone:

Firstly, the pain really depends on the area being treated; if the area being treated is typically a sensitive area, such as the underarms or bikini line, then you’re likely to experience slight discomfort to minimal pain. Secondly, the darker your skin tone then the more discomfort you are likely to experience during LHR. This is, unfortunately, because the laser is working to target hair (which naturally has a dark pigment). Therefore, the darker the pigment of the skin the more likely the laser will also target the skin as well as the hair. Now, this is not the end of the world! Our clinic will soon offer the latest laser hair removal machine from Lutronic, Clarity II. This laser hair removal machine has a laser which is made for all skin tones. It adapts the laser for darker skin tones by adjusting the laser’s wavelength and pulse duration. Therefore, allowing us to conduct LHR on darker skin tones without the usual discomfort experienced makes the procedure more accessible and comfortable for all skin types.

Misconception 2: Laser Hair Removal Is Not Effective

I don’t think this misconception is as common as it used to be. But nonetheless, there are a few out there who don’t understand how a laser could remove hair long term. This is completely understandable if you don’t have the background knowledge to see the effectiveness of using a laser for hair removal! So, let’s break down the science. The laser wavelength emits a light which is designed to target the pigment in your hair follicles. The light energy of the laser then converts to heat, and this is what damages the hair follicles, thus inhibiting any future hair growth. So, how does laser hair removal work? By damaging the hair follicle (which produces hair), over multiple sessions this stops any future hair growth from being possible. It is absolutely effective at doing this. However, multiple sessions spread out over the course of a year will be required to ensure the long-term results you’re looking for.

Misconception 3: Laser Hair Removal Is Only for Light Skin Tones

We’ve briefly covered this in misconception 1, so we know this misconception is old news! Historically, LHR was more effective on lighter skin tones due to the contrast between hair and skin colour. However, advancements in technology, such as our soon-to-be new laser hair removal machine Clarity II, now allow us to safely and effectively treat darker skin tones. This opens up the benefits of LHR to a wider range of patients. Which allows us to treat all skin tones and many hair types (with pigment).

Misconception 4: Laser Hair Removal Is Permanent

Does laser hair removal remove hair permanently? While it’s true that LHR offers a long-term reduction of unwanted hair, it is not entirely permanent. As we mentioned before, maintenance sessions once every few years may be required to maintain your desired results. But as long as you’re willing to play the long game, you’ll be hair-free for the rest of your life!

Essentially, some hair may regrow over time, but it will be finer and lighter than before. Therefore, maintenance sessions may be required to inhibit future hair growth. You will find dead hair that may begin to shed five to thirty days after your procedure. Although this may seem like new hair growth, it’s not. They will naturally find their way out of the follicle, but you can exfoliate the area to facilitate the process. We also recommend avoiding sun exposure and using sunscreen outdoors to protect the treatment area.

If you’re still unsure, there are other routes to take if you want the appearance of less hair. For example, our laser hair bleaching treatment is very effective at bleaching the pigment of the hair to white. This treatment is the easiest way to lighten unwanted hair with just one procedure, giving you the results you were looking for.

Misconception 5: Laser Hair Removal Is Unsafe

I can understand the resistance to believing a ‘laser’ could be safe for your skin or body. But this misconception is coming from an idea of lasers such that we see in the movies. Trust me, the lasers that skin clinics use are literally designed for the use of the body and your skin. So, you are in very safe hands, especially at Continental Skin Clinic– our team consists of GMC-registered doctors and advanced laser technicians. LHR is a safe procedure when performed by qualified professionals like us using FDA-approved devices. Our clinic adheres to strict safety protocols to ensure the well-being of our patients during treatment. With the latest technology and experienced practitioners, LHR is a safe and effective option for achieving smooth, hair-free skin.

Final Words

In conclusion, LHR is a safe, effective, and long-lasting solution for reducing unwanted hair. By debunking these common misconceptions, I hope I’ve given some clarity and reassurance to anyone considering beginning their hair-free journey with us! As always, I’ll see you in the next one 🙂

Cosmetic Injections: Your Complete Guide

Cosmetic Injections: Your Ultimate Guide

Aesthetic medicine is a relatively new field in the medical sciences that is evolving rapidly. Every day, we see a brand-new treatment for various aesthetic concerns. Aesthetic injections are no different. They are one of the most popular treatments in this field, which can sometimes be confusing due to the different names and brands out there. We will have a holistic review of these brilliant treatments in the aesthetic field.

To help create this ultimate guide, I have enlisted the help of our specialist in-house doctors while we delve into all the injectables we offer, from anti-wrinkle injections and dermal fillers to skin boosters and glutathione!

Dark under eye treatment. anti-wrinkle injections. cosmetic injections

Anti-wrinkle Injections:

anti-wrinkle injections. cosmetic injecitons. Anti-wrinkle injections, also known as toxin treatments, are one of the oldest and most popular aesthetic cosmetic injections. Most of the lines and wrinkles in our skin are caused by the repetitive muscle movements underneath, so we call them dynamic wrinkles. These wrinkles can be treated by paralysing the muscles underneath, as long as they are not visible at rest. After long-term muscle movement, these lines can be permanent, so we will see them not only through muscle contraction but also at rest. At this stage, we need to recruit other types of aesthetic treatments, like dermal fillers or energy-based devices, to eliminate the lines and wrinkles.

There are different brands of toxins on the market for anti-wrinkle injections, but the ingredients are basically the same. A medical professional could make a clinical-based decision to choose the most appropriate treatment.

Our Medical doctors in our clinic will help you have the safest anti-wrinkle treatment that best suits your skin concern.

dermal fillers. cosmetic injections

Dermal Fillers:

Dermal fillers are a type of cosmetic injections which help you to volumise the desired part of your body. The most popular type of dermal fillers are Hyaluronic acid-based fillers which is a natural volumiser in our body. Various brands on the market utilise hyaluronic acid to make different fillers which can be used in the various parts of the body based on the amount of the filling effect we want to achieve. Hyaluronic acid-based fillers are also popular due to the availability of the hyaluronidase enzyme, which can undo any unwanted outcome.

There are other types of dermal fillers with different components like:

Calcium hydroxyapatite (CaHA): Radiesse Dermal Filler

Poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA): Sculptra Dermal Filler

Poly-D, L-lactic acid (PDLLA): Juve Look and LENISNA Dermal Fillers

These are long-lasting collagen stimulant fillers that naturally enhance and volumise the look. They are biodegradable but not reversible, which means that your body will degrade the component after a certain amount of time, but no enzyme is available to dissolve the filler. That’s why you always need to have an experienced medical professional deliver any type of dermal filler for you.

Our Medical professional team at Continental Skin Clinic aims to create a holistic treatment plan that will allow you to receive dermal fillers in the safest and most natural-looking way possible.

Skin Boosters:

Skin boosters are a type of aesthetic injectable treatment composed of hyaluronic acid, different peptides, enzymes, vitamins and other essential ingredients to rejuvenate and boost your skin. There are different types of skin boosters available in the market in terms of different branding and components. Our ultimate goal in introducing skin boosters to the skin is to enhance skin texture in the most natural way possible. The different components of skin boosters help skin cells to produce collagen and elastin and make the skin hydrated and rejuvenated, improve texture, and even cause tightening and firmness for an overall reconstructed youthful skin.

When choosing a skin booster that suits your skin the best, consider your skin concern, age, skin type, and treatment area. Please note that skin boosters are not dermal fillers, so they are not supposed to have a volumising effect. Instead, they will enhance your overall skin appearance in the most natural way.

Therefore, we will advise on the number of sessions of treatment you will need based on each brand’s instruction and clinical evaluation.

We currently offer several skin booster injections, each targeted towards different concerns, such as:

  • Profhilo:

exosomes skin boosters. cosmetic injectionsProfhilo not only replenishes moisture levels but also restores ageing and sagging tissue, restoring a youthful glow. With its potent blend of hyaluronic acid, Profhilo stimulates collagen and elastin production, resulting in improved firmness and elasticity. Ideal for the face, neck, décolletage, and more, the Profhilo treatment offers comprehensive skin rejuvenation for patients of all ages.

  • Jalupro Super Hydro:

This is an advanced biorevitalization treatment formulated with Amino Acids Replacement Therapy, biopeptides, and high-grade hyaluronic acid. By replenishing collagen in the connective tissue, Jalupro Superhydro treatment enhances facial contours, delivering a noticeable lifting effect. This treatment also provides deep, long-lasting hydration, effectively reducing wrinkles and other signs of ageing for a radiant, youthful complexion.

  • Jalupro Young Eye:

The Jalupro Young Eye treatment is specially crafted to tighten and refresh the delicate skin around your eyes. Targeting common concerns like fine lines, wrinkles, puffiness, and dark circles, Jalupro Young Eye revitalizes collagen production for a brighter, more youthful appearance. Say goodbye to signs of ageing and hello to vibrant, refreshed eyes with Jalupro Young Eye.

… And many more

Glutathione Injections:

glutathione injections. cosmetic injections.

Glutathione injections contain glutathione, an antioxidant that can be found naturally in our body. It is made from the amino acids glycine, cysteine, and glutamic. Glutathione can help with tissue rebuilding, tissue repair, and immune system function. We recruit these abilities to help brighten the skin, unify the skin tone, and create a healthier complexion.

We advise our patients to have Glutathione injections alone or in addition to other pigmentation treatments like Laser toning and Cosmelan treatments. Like any other antioxidant and supplement treatment, you need to consult with a medical professional to avoid any adverse effects on your body.

At Continental Skin Clinic, our medical team will help you develop the most pleasant and beneficial treatment plan for hyperpigmentation and uneven skin tone.

Our blog post on glutathione injections can give you more information about this exciting treatment!

Pain Management:

Cosmetic injections can be beneficial in many skin concerns in both male/female adults. However, there are always some concerns regarding the pain involved in injections. We aim to minimise any pain during the injection by utilising different techniques such as using the thinnest needles possible, distraction techniques during injection, applying numbing cream before the treatment, or even having local anaesthesia injection to make sure you have the most comfortable treatment in our clinic. Our stress balls are always there available for you as well.

Aftercare:

Most aesthetic injections have minimal downtime. However, adhering to our safety advice is necessary to gain the best results.

You need to avoid any strenuous exercises, swimming, sauna or flushes to the injection area, like alcohol consumption, for 24-48 hours after your treatment. Like any other injection, you need to keep the injected area clean to avoid superinfection, so it is advisable to avoid using makeup for at least one day after your treatment. There may be some swelling, bruising, redness, or tenderness in the injection areas which will resolve in a couple of hours to days based on the treatment area or technique.

Some types of aesthetic injection need some special aftercare which will be advised by your medical professional after your treatment.

FAQs:

Now that we know a little about the different cosmetic injections and their benefits, let’s delve into some frequently asked questions that I have asked our in-house doctor, Dr Farnaz.

What is the difference between cannula and needles for aesthetic injection?

Cannulas are blunt flexible needles that can be used in aesthetic injectable treatments. Using a cannula minimises vascular injuries, which is its most important benefit. Vascular occlusion is a relatively serious side effect of dermal filler injections. Injecting the product into the vessels can lead to this complication. Therefore, cannulas are considered safer and easier in many aesthetic injections due to the lower probability of these adverse effects. However, we sometimes need to use normal needles for special treatments that cannulas can’t perform.

During the consultation, our medical professionals at Continental Skin Clinic can help you choose the best treatment option for you

Are these cosmetic injections safe?

These injections are generally considered safe when administered by experienced aesthetic professionals who adhere to established guidelines for each procedure. Choosing a skilled and knowledgeable practitioner ensures a safer journey throughout the treatment process.

Which treatment is the best for me?

After a thorough consultation addressing your specific skin concerns, your aesthetic professional can recommend the most suitable treatment option for you.

How long do these treatments last?

The duration of these treatments varies depending on the specific products and techniques used. Treatment effects typically range from 6 months to 18 months. It’s recommended to schedule touch-up treatments to maintain optimal results over time.

Are there any side effects/downtime with these treatments?

These treatments involve injections, which may result in potential side effects such as swelling, bruising, redness, and discomfort. The downtime associated with each treatment can vary depending on the injection method utilised. However, you will receive a thorough consultation to address all aspects of the treatments, including potential side effects and downtime.

Laser Tattoo Removal Case Study

Laser Tattoo Removal

Welcome back to another case study showcasing more brilliant results from our skin clinic. Today, I’m going to talk about laser tattoo removal and how it works. I’m going to do this all while showing you the journey and results of one of our valued clients, Vivee.

A bit of background to this particular case- Vivee had semi-permanent makeup on her eyebrows in the form of tattoos. Semi-permanent makeup is a great option for people who are too busy or too tired to do their makeup every morning. And let’s face it, being able to wake up with a face of makeup every morning is the dream! However, as it says in the name, these makeup tattoos are semi-permanent and will fade over time, often becoming slightly grey or green if not maintained and redone at the right time. This is when Vivee decided to seek our help and get the original makeup tattoos removed before getting them done again.

I hope that by taking you on Vivee’s journey, you will see the truly transformative results and appreciate that anything is possible at our advanced laser and skin clinic.

So, let’s get into this laser tattoo removal review!

Understanding Laser Tattoo Removal:

Laser tattoo removal is a very safe and effective procedure that uses advanced laser technology. The laser breaks down tattoo ink particles in the skin. As you can see from the diagram above, this process allows the body to eliminate the broken-down ink naturally. Thus, gradually fading the tattoo over a series of sessions.

Client Profile:

Vivee came to us, knowing our expertise as a leading laser and skin clinic in London. She wanted to address her faded and discoloured eyebrow tattoos. Despite her initial excitement about permanent makeup, Vivee’s tattoos had lost their vibrancy over time, leaving her with a greyish-green hue that no longer complemented her complexion. We advised her that to prepare for new eyebrow tattooing, it is best to opt for laser tattoo removal to clear the area safely and effectively.

Why Laser Tattoo Removal?

At Continental Skin Clinic, we use the Hollywood Spectra laser from Lutronic. This laser is renowned for its ultra-short pulse technology and its ability to target multi-colour tattoos on all skin tones. Unlike traditional methods, laser tattoo removal minimises the risk of scarring and preserves surrounding hair follicles, making it an ideal choice for sensitive areas like the eyebrows.

What to Expect Before a Laser Tattoo Removal Session:

Before each session, Vivee underwent a thorough consultation to assess her skin type, tattoo characteristics, and medical history. Our team outlined the treatment process, discussed potential side effects, and addressed any concerns Vivee had about the procedure.

There are some general rules to follow prior to your laser tattoo removal session. First, we strictly advise you to avoid UV exposure (including sun beds) for 30 days and limit the use of skin care products that can cause photosensitivity (E.g., retinoids, tretinoin, AHAs, BHAs, tanning products). Second, you need to ensure the area that’s going to be treated is shaved the day before. Before we begin the treatment, your laser technician will then apply a topical anaesthetic, and you’ll have to wait a while for this to numb the tattooed area properly. Doing this will help you feel as comfortable as possible during the procedure.

What to Expect After a Laser Tattoo Removal Session:

Following each session, Vivee experienced temporary redness, swelling, and mild discomfort, which subsided within a few days. Our post-treatment care regimen includes gentle cleansing, moisturising, and applying sun protection to promote optimal healing and minimise the risk of complications.

After your tattoo removal session, the area treated will feel warm to the touch, with mild erythema and oedema. You can expect the treated area to turn white immediately after the treatment before returning to its original colour. We will then apply a cooling agent, like aloe vera, and a breathable cover to prevent infection and keep the area clean and dry.

Now for the part you’ve all been waiting for… keep scrolling for our laser tattoo removal before and after results!

What is Glutathione?

Dr Farnaz:

benefits of glutathione injections, glutathione injection cost

Glutathione is a tripeptide made up of L-cysteine, L-glutamic acid, and glycine. It is produced in cells throughout the body and plays pivotal roles in several biological processes, such as neutralising free radicals, detoxification, maintaining cellular redox balance, and supporting the immune system. Glutathione is also involved in iron metabolism and is believed to help maintain the integrity of the blood-brain barrier.

Research shows that increased glutathione levels are associated with better health outcomes, including a reduced risk of illnesses and better cholesterol, body mass index, and blood pressure levels in elderly individuals! To put it simply, glutathione is a superhero substance – various conditions such as neuroinflammation, neurodegenerative diseases, infection, cancer, and age-related ailments like Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s Disease are all linked to lower levels of glutathione.

Furthermore, glutathione improves skin pigmentation through its anti-melanogenic properties. Essentially, glutathione inhibits melanogenesis and removes free radicals, and this improves skin pigmentation because the overproduction of melanin is the primary cause of hyperpigmentation. This means glutathione is very effective at treating skin discolouration and hyperpigmentation.

Do glutathione injections whiten skin?

Dr Farnaz explains that it’s best to reframe this question: instead of “whitening,” the term “brightening” is more appropriate. These brightening injections reduce melanin production and pigmentation and, therefore, brighten and even your skin tone. However, it’s crucial to emphasise that the body’s natural processes determine the extent of your skin brightening. So, it’s important to keep in mind that your goal with this treatment should be to achieve brighter, even skin rather than to change your skin colour artificially. Our goal at Continental Skin Clinic is always to enhance your natural beauty rather than change it!

How long does it take for glutathione to lighten skin?

Patience is key! Like any treatment, individual results will vary, and this can depend on various factors such as skin type, genetics, and overall health. It’s important to remember that skin lightening is a secondary benefit of glutathione; its primary purpose is to function as an anti-oxidant within the body. Therefore, consistency with this treatment is vital as it will take time for the results to become noticeable. Usually, the process of lightening the skin complexion takes a few weeks to months after adopting a glutathione regimen. Ultimately, the time it takes to see results depends on your skin tone; for example, Light-medium brown skin: 1-3 months, Dark brown skin: 3-6 months, Very dark skin: 6-12 months & Black skin: 18 months minimum.

How much glutathione is needed to lighten skin?

It’s important to note that health authorities have not approved a specific dose for glutathione injections. However, for our treatment protocol, we offer intramuscular injections ranging from 2400mg to 3600mg per week for up to 12 weeks. After the initial treatment period, we recommend maintenance doses to sustain the desired results over time. It’s crucial to follow the guidance of a qualified healthcare professional when undergoing glutathione injections to ensure safety and effectiveness.

Will I get darker if I stop taking glutathione?

Maintaining a consistent skincare routine is essential for promoting healthy and radiant skin. Regardless of specific treatments, a regular skincare regimen helps to keep the skin in optimal condition and maintain its best appearance. This routine typically includes cleansing, moisturizing, sun protection, and targeted treatments for specific concerns. By prioritising skincare habits and adhering to a personalised routine, individuals can help preserve their skin’s health and appearance over time.

Can glutathione change skin tone?

Glutathione can potentially lead to a brighter and more radiant skin tone by inhibiting melanin production. However, its effects on skin tone vary among individuals, and results may be subtle.

Is Vitamin C better than glutathione for skin whitening?

While these products can help achieve a more even and brighter skin tone, it’s crucial to consult with a healthcare professional before starting any regimen. Your doctor can provide personalised advice and recommendations based on your skin type, concerns, and medical history. They can help determine the best products or treatments that suit your individual needs and ensure their safety and effectiveness. Always seek professional guidance to achieve the best results for your skin. At Continental Skin Clinic, we will provide a thorough consultation with our in-house doctors before starting any of our treatments!

How to become fair with glutathione?

Glutathione cannot change your inherent skin type or make you fairer. Skin type, determined by genetics, remains largely unchanged throughout life. Glutathione may help achieve a brighter and more even skin tone. Glutathione achieves this by reducing pigmentation and enhancing radiance, but it cannot alter your natural skin type. It’s important to approach skincare treatments, including glutathione, with realistic expectations and to prioritize overall skin health and well-being.

Can glutathione cause skin darkening?

There have not been any scientific reports regarding this matter.

Does glutathione make you look younger?

Glutathione’s antioxidant properties can promote skin health, reduce pigmentation, and enhance collagen production. This can help contribute to a more youthful appearance by reducing the visible signs of ageing, such as wrinkles and age spots.

Skin Tightening Success Story

skin tightening treatment case study infini

At Continental Skin Clinic, we believe in empowering our clients to achieve their skincare goals and enhance their natural beauty. In this blog post, we’re excited to share a skin tightening success story! This is the inspiring journey of one of our valued clients, Mulu, who underwent our bespoke skin tightening treatment to achieve tighter, more youthful skin and address pigmentation concerns. Through a tailored course of Chemical Peels, Laser Toning, and Infini treatments, Mulu experienced remarkable results, highlighting the effectiveness of our approach to skin rejuvenation.

Understanding the Treatment Journey of The Skin Tightening Success Story

Chemical Peels:

Chemical peels are a cornerstone of our skin tightening treatment, offering exfoliation and stimulating collagen production for improved skin texture and tone. Mulu underwent a series of six chemical peel sessions, each carefully formulated to target her specific concerns. By removing dead skin cells and encouraging cell turnover, chemical peels promote the growth of new, healthy skin cells, resulting in a smoother, more radiant complexion.

Laser Toning:

Laser toning is another key component of our skin tightening regimen, harnessing the power of laser technology to target pigmentation and stimulate collagen production. Mulu received ten sessions of laser toning, which effectively reduced pigmentation and evened out her skin tone. The gentle yet effective nature of laser toning makes it suitable for all skin types, providing noticeable improvements with minimal downtime. The Nd Yag is a gentler alternative to ablative laser treatments, with no downtime. This is a great laser treatment for dark skin hyperpigmentation as it removes and breaks down the melanin and melanosomes in the skin that cause melasma, and hyperpigmentation marks on the skin, With laser toning, you can get rid of 70-80% percent of the dark spots from anywhere on your body. The treatment also rejuvenates and enhances skin from deep within, giving you naturally glowing skin.

Infini RF:

Infini is a cutting-edge skin tightening treatment that utilises microneedling and radiofrequency energy to deliver precise, controlled thermal energy to the deeper layers of the skin. Mulu underwent two sessions of Infini, which helped to further tighten and firm her skin while reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. By stimulating collagen production and promoting tissue remodelling, Infini delivers long-lasting results for a rejuvenated complexion.

Client Profile

Our valued client, Mulu, sought treatment at our clinic with concerns about sagging skin and loss of firmness in her lower face, neck, and décolleté. She also had concerns of pigmentation, age spots, and sun damage. Despite a diligent skincare routine, she found it challenging to address these concerns effectively. The next step was a thorough consultation to begin Mulu’s skin tightening success story, with our advanced facialist and laser technician. In the consultation, concerns and treatment goals were discussed and a treatment plan was decided. Our client has darker skin, so we used our Nd Yag laser specifically for dark skin.

What to Expect Before:

Before chemical peel treatments, the preparation will depend on many factors such as: your skin tone, your concern, the area being treated and the strength of the peel you are going to have. If you are of skin types 4-6 you may need to prep for a few weeks using a melanocyte suppressor to reduce the risk of post inflammatory pigmentation. It is also advised to stop using any exfoliants such as retinol and tretinoin for at least 2-3 weeks before. You will also be required to use hyaluronic acid serums to strengthen your skin barrier prior to the treatment

Before laser toning treatments, it’s important to limit the use of products and medications that can cause photosensitivity such as; Retinoids, Tretinoin, AHA’s, BHA’s, other exfoliating acids, St Johns wart, and any other medications that make your skin sensitive.

Before Infini treatments, you may need to make some lifestyle changes, including limiting sun exposure and the use of topical actives including retinol. If you use any prescribed creams such as Tretinoin, Hydroquione, Benzoyl peroxide or topical steroids, you need to let us know at your consultation as these compounds may cause increase sensitivity to aesthetic procedures, so your aesthetician will be able create a detailed, personalised plan for you to ensure you get the best results from the treatment. Before the treatment a topical anaesthetic is applied to the area to be treated 40-60 minutes prior to the procedure, this is to ease discomfort for the patient.

What to Expect After:

After a laser treatment, you can expect some erythema, and sometimes a tingling sensation can be felt, however, this will die down after a couple of hours to the next day.

After a chemical peel treatment, your skin will be very sensitive and will be vulnerable to infection. Therefore it is important to use anti-bacterial wash and to avoid touching it. The specific aftercare will be provided to you during your consultation. It is also important to not moisturise the skin for at least 3-4 days after treatment and protect it from sun exposure.

After an Infini treatment, initial redness experienced will subside quickly within the first hour of Infini RF (Fractional RF Microneedling). It takes 24-36 hours for the residual redness and swelling to dissipate. Rarely do patients report extended redness for a few more days.

But do not worry, your aesthetician will advise any personalised aftercare needed and what you can do maximise the efficacy of the treatment at home for best results. We are on-call 6 days a week to answer any questions or concerns you have. Via WhatsApp, our GMC Doctors, advanced laser technicians, and medical aesthetic specialists are able to video call you, review photos you send in and answer any questions or concerns you may have. In-clinic, we have a variety of state-of-the-art products that you are able to purchase after treatment that can be used to protect your skin and boost your results. HOW OFTEN SHOULD YOU GET CHEMICAL PEELS?

To achieve the best results with minimal risks, it is recommended to have between 3-6 treatments, 2-4 weeks apart, depending on the strength of the peel and indication treated.

DO CHEMICAL PEELS HURT?

Chemical skin peel causes minimal discomfort. You may experience a burning sensation lasting for a few minutes. Afterward, you may feel a stinging sensation in treated areas. Our specialists will be with you during these brief moments of discomfort, mitigating its effects.

WHAT IS THE DOWNTIME OF A CHEMICAL PEEL?

Not all chemical peels require downtime. Our milder peels may cause slight redness, flaking, or shedding that can last for a few hours after the treatment, without causing disruption to your lifestyle. On the other hand, we offer stronger peels, that may require downtime up to 7-10 days post-treatment. However, details of the side effects and downtime will be discussed in detail during your consultation. Aftercare advice will be provided to mitigate the effects or possible discomfort.

IS A CHEMICAL PEEL SAFE?

Chemical peels are safe when done by trained professionals. However, every treatment carries potential risks such as burning and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation and should be handled with the utmost care, experience and expertise.

WHAT CAN LASER TONING TREAT?

  • Post Acne Redness
  • Acne
  • Melasma
  • Freckles
  • Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation
  • Laser for even skin tone

HOW LONG DOES A LASER TONING TREATMENT TAKE?

The treatment takes 30 minutes to complete. The treatment can include some facial add ons to boost the efficacy of the treatment such as chemical peels.

~Infini Fractional Microneedling RF~

IS RF MICRONEEDLING PERMANENT?

Although RF microneedling is not a permanent solution, the results can last longer than other treatments. Depending on your age, skin type, the area, and the skincare followed at home, effects can differ in how long they last. For best results, it’s recommended to follow a personalised treatment plan where your specialist will advise how often you need to get the treatment. While one RF microneedling treatment may produce temporary improvements, optimal long-term outcomes are achieved with three to six sessions. Within two to three weeks of the first treatment, most patients see a difference in their skin texture.

WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN FRACTIONAL RF MICRONEEDLING VS SKIN NEEDLING?

Both skin needling and fractional radiofrequency needling stimulate collagen and elastin production and rejuvenate the skin. Skin needling improves surface imperfections, including texture and tone, fine lines, and enlarged pores. As RF microneedling can reach multiple layers of the skin delivering RF energy throughout. Compared to skin needling, it can help with more severe skin problems, such as acne pitting, scarring, wrinkles, sagging skin, loss of firmness, and signs of ageing. It would not be suitable for melasma and we would recommend a different course of treatments for this skin concern.

IS FRACTIONAL RF MICRONEEDLING WORTH IT?

RF microneedling is worth it. The results from the  RF Microneedling in London treatment are something that can’t be achieved from other treatments. It improves the skin’s texture and tone and will leave your skin looking hydrated and radiant following treatment.

HIFU Success Story: Client Case Study

A Continental Skin Clinic Case Study: HIFU

At Continental Skin Clinic, we pride ourselves on delivering transformative results through cutting-edge treatments. Today, we’re thrilled to share the remarkable journey of one of our clients who underwent a series of HIFU treatments, experiencing a remarkable transformation in her lower face and neck area.

Understanding HIFU Ultraformer III:

HIFU (High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound) Ultraformer III is a non-invasive, FDA-approved treatment renowned for its ability to lift and tighten the skin, stimulating collagen production deep within the dermis. With precise ultrasound energy, the HIFU treatment targets the foundational layers of the skin, delivering remarkable results without surgery or downtime.

Our Ultraformer HIFU treatment in London firms and tightens sagging skin. It also helps with fat reduction in different body areas, including the tummy, thighs, hips, and arms.

We know everyone has unique needs and goals for their procedure. So, while the HIFU treatment offers many uses, we focus on our patient’s specific goals.

Client Profile:

Our valued client, Fiona, sought treatment at our clinic with concerns about sagging skin and loss of firmness in her lower face and neck. Despite a diligent skincare routine, she found it challenging to address these signs of ageing effectively. The next step was a thorough consultation with our advanced facialist and laser technician, concerns and treatment goals were discussed and a treatment plan was decided.

The Treatment Journey:

Fiona embarked on a customised treatment plan, which involved a series of three HIFU Ultraformer III sessions spread over the course of a year. Each session was tailored to target specific areas of concern, focusing on lifting and tightening the skin for a more youthful appearance on her lower face and neck.

What to expect before your HIFU journey?

Preparations for the HIFU treatment in London differs from patient to patient. It depends on your skin type, condition, goals, and skincare history. Before coming in for the treatment, you will go through a thorough skin consultation with one of our specialists and they will assess the area of concern and decide on the correct protocol and procedure for you.

Your pre-treatment precautions should be tailored to your needs and goals. This is why our specialists discuss your medical and skincare history and expectations during your consultation session. Once this was discussed with Fiona, we took some photos to document her before profile.

What to Expect After Your First HIFU Treatment:

Post HIFU treatment you will feel some slight tenderness in certain areas and can expect mild swelling the following day and there will be redness in some areas, especially if  this is something you’re prone to.

The following weeks after your HIFU treatment is when the collagen and elastin in your skin starts to rebuild. This is when you can start to notice the first signs of skin tightening, face contouring and fat loss.

Depending on your desired results, our specialists will create a treatment plan to best meet your needs.

The Results:

After completing her course of treatments, the results were nothing short of extraordinary. The before-and-after photos speak volumes, showcasing a noticeable improvement in Fiona’s overall facial contour and skin texture.

Before the treatments, Fiona’s lower face and neck exhibited visible signs of sagging and laxity. However, post-treatment, her skin appeared firmer, tighter, and more rejuvenated.

The HIFU sessions effectively stimulated collagen production, resulting in a natural-looking lift and improvement in skin elasticity.

It’s clear from these results why they call the HIFU treatment, the ‘non-surgical facelift’!

FAQ’s:

What age is best for HIFU?

In general, the treatment is best for people older than 30 with mild-to-moderate skin laxity. It is recommended to use the procedure for the full area once a year for the maintenance and anti ageing prevention, especially from the age of 30 when the collagen production starts degrading slowly, and then increasing it to 2 times a year, and then around 3 times a year after reaching age of 40s and onwards.

Is HIFU better than Botox?

HIFU is more natural and long-lasting when compared to botox and fillers because it uses the body’s own generated collagen fibres as a stimulation, whereas botox and fillers involve injecting substances to achieve the same results.

Does HIFU face lift really work?

Ultraformer HIFU is highly effective in treating various skin conditions. It uses micro-focused ultrasound energy to stimulate lasting collagen production to revitalise your skin. We think the results truly speak for themselves, if our client case study didn’t convince you and you still feel you have more questions, then please feel free to contact us on WhatsApp, phone call, or email to book a consultation today!

Is HIFU painful?

You may experience slight discomfort depending on the area treated. This would be more prominent on bony areas, such as jaw or chin, and areas of the body which have lots of nerves. However, all measures will be taken during the treatment to reduce discomfort and achieve the best results.

How long does a HIFU facial last, are the results immediate?

The results are not immediate. This is a non-surgical alternative to surgical procedures, aimed at slowing down and reversing the ageing process using the body’s own renewal process. It is best to consider the HIFU treatment as a preventative measure rather than a corrective measure.

For example, if we take a pair of identical twins with similar lifestyle habits, and documented the baseline photos of their face, neck, and jawlines on month zero. Then compare these same photos in 18 months, with new photos after only one of the twins has undergone the HIFU procedure at least three times. The twin who had the treatment would look younger, with more contoured features and tighter skin. While the non-treated twin will have suffered more visible effects of gravity, such as dropping of cheeks, mouth, and jowls. For this reason, HIFU treatment is a long-term investment and is not ideal for those searching for immediate results.

However, depending on the indication treated i.e. foxy eyes, double-chin, and/or fat reduction, results would be visible much quicker than the general indication of this treatment, which is non-surgical face lifting and what this procedure is mainly used for.

How long is the HIFU procedure?

The procedure can be performed in under 60 minutes. Of course, you’d experience an immediate tightening of your skin. However, the results improve as the months pass.

Is HIFU Ultraformer III the same as Ultherapy?

Although Ultraformer 3 and Ultherapy share similarities, they are not the same.

They are both non-invasive treatments that focus on lifting and tightening the skin. However, Ultraformer III has the unique advantage of targeting difficult-to-reach areas like the underarms, under-eyes, etc., with the help of a specialised hand piece with multiple-depth cartridges, that offer outstanding results through a non-invasive procedure. Also, Ultraformer III saves more time. As a result, it takes Ultherapy two times the time it takes Ultraformer III to treat the same area.

What areas can be treated with HIFU Ultraformer III?

  • Full face
  • Jowls
  • Arms
  • Axilla
  • Ankles
  • Abdomen
  • Flanks/love handles
  • Inner thighs
  • Outer thighs
  • Knees
  • Beneath buttocks
  • Post pregnancy tummy

The Benefits of HIFU and Infini RF for Skin Tightening

In the ever-evolving landscape of skincare technology, two innovative treatments have taken centre stage for their exceptional skin-tightening benefits: High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) and Infini Radio Frequency (RF). These cutting-edge procedures are revolutionising the way we approach skin rejuvenation, offering non-invasive solutions for achieving a firmer and more youthful complexion. In this blog post, we will delve into the remarkable benefits of HIFU and Infini RF, shedding light on why these treatments are gaining popularity among skincare enthusiasts.

Understanding HIFU: A Non-Surgical Facelift

High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) has emerged as a non-surgical alternative to traditional facelifts. HIFU treatment provides remarkable results without the need for invasive procedures. The primary focus of HIFU treatment is to stimulate collagen production deep within the skin, promoting natural skin tightening, and lifting. This procedure utilises focused ultrasound energy to target specific layers of the skin. This triggers a regenerative response that enhances elasticity and reduces sagging.

One of the standout benefits of HIFU is its precision. The technology allows practitioners to target precise depths beneath the skin’s surface, ensuring optimal results with minimal discomfort. HIFU is particularly effective in addressing areas prone to sagging, such as the neck, jawline, and brow. As collagen production is stimulated over the following weeks, you will experience a gradual but noticeable improvement in skin firmness and texture.

Key Benefits of HIFU Treatment:

  1. Non-invasive and virtually painless.
  2. Stimulates collagen production for natural skin tightening.
  3. Targets specific areas with precision.
  4. Minimal downtime, allowing for a quick return to daily activities.

Exploring Infini RF: Harnessing the Power of Radio Frequency

Infini Radio Frequency (RF) is another breakthrough in the realm of non-surgical skin tightening. This treatment combines the power of radio frequency energy with microneedling. Thus creating a synergistic effect that rejuvenates the skin from the inside out. The needles deliver controlled RF energy into the dermis, stimulating collagen and elastin production while promoting the skin’s natural healing process.

Infini RF is particularly versatile, making it suitable for various skin concerns, including fine lines, wrinkles, and even acne scars. The adjustable depth control allows for customisation based on individual skin needs, making it a highly personalised treatment option. The precision of Infini RF ensures that the energy is delivered exactly where it is needed, maximising the impact on skin tightening.

Key Benefits of Infini RF Treatment:
  1. Combines microneedling with radio frequency for enhanced results.
  2. Versatile, addressing multiple skin concerns.
  3. Adjustable depth control for personalised treatment.
  4. Minimal downtime, with noticeable improvements over time.

Why Choose HIFU and Infini RF for Skin Tightening?

Choosing between HIFU and Infini RF ultimately depends on individual preferences and specific skin concerns. Overall, both treatments offer non-invasive alternatives to surgical procedures. For those seeking skin tightening and rejuvenation, both treatments provide effective solutions.

For those interested in a quick, targeted treatment with minimal downtime, HIFU stands out for its precision and efficiency. However Infini RF offers versatility, making it an excellent choice for individuals with a range of skin concerns.

It’s important to consult with a skincare professional to determine the most suitable treatment based on individual needs and goals. A comprehensive assessment will help tailor the approach, ensuring optimal results and a rejuvenated, youthful appearance.
