Scars

Scars and dark marks (called post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation) can have a substantial effect on your level of confidence. Here at Continental Skin Clinic, we offer various treatments to smoothen the appearance of scars.

What are scars?

Scars form as part of the body’s healing process. Your body builds tissue to repair damaged skin and close gaps due to an injury. Scars come in all shapes and sizes.

Causes of Scars

The most common cause of scars are usually the following:

  • Accidents
  • Burns
  • Surgery
  • Acne
  • Illness

How we can help

During your initial consultation, one of our skin experts will create a tailor-made treatment plan to suit your specific acne issues and skin type. The treatments can range from non-invasive laser and non-laser treatments:

  • For pitted scars, dermal fillers can be used for treating pitted acne scars. These fillers can improve the contour of the skin and reduce the depression in the skin caused by acne scars
  • Chemical peels can help to smoothen the texture of scars and irregularities
  • Fractional Microneedling RF builds and boosts collagen production, resulting in the diminished appearance of scar tissue
  • We offer laser therapies that effectively prod the skin to produce collagen.

This treatment can be combined with the following procedures:

Advanced Facials

– IPL

– Infini RF Microneedling

– LED Light Therapy (Healite 2)

The combination of treatments can be discussed at your consultation following with the bespoke treatment plan.

How to prevent scars

While there are ways to minimise scarring, you may still develop some scars even with careful care. This is especially true if you have severe acne, inflamed breakouts, or are simply prone to scarring. The best way to prevent scar formation is to stop the cause of them:

  • Treat acne in the proper manner
  • Keep wounds and cuts covered and protected
