What is a Dermal Filler Dissolving?

Often times with dermal fillers, complications such as lumps, asymmetry and overfilling may occur. There are also cases where there is no side effect however, the patient decides to go back natural and remove the filler.

In these cases, Hyaluronidase or as commonly known “hyalase”, will be injected to the affected area to dissolve the HA based filler.

This treatment can be combined with the following procedures:

– Dermal Fillers Adjustement Procedure

– Ultraformer III (HIFU)

– Semi-Permanent Make Up

– Medical Camouflage

– Anti-Wrinkle Injections

The combination of treatments can be discussed at your consultation following with the bespoke treatment plan.

We advise to wait 3-4 weeks after your dermal fillers injections before dissolving.

We also advise that you return to the practitioner who performed dermal filler treatment.

Do not drink any alcohol or take blood thinners 48 hours prior to the treatment.

Patch test must be performed prior to treatment.

After

There might be a mild swelling occurring in the treated area, however, there is no significant downtime after the treatment, and you can return to normal activities immediately.

We advise avoiding heat-inducing activities such as strenuous exercise, spas, saunas, or hot showers for at least 24 hours after the treatment.

Based on the indication treated doctor may recommend to massage the area.

How do dermal filler dissolving injections work?

Our experienced doctor will administer hyaluronidase in the area of concern. The solution targets dermal filler and dissolves it naturally in the body.

What does dermal filler dissolving treatment do?

The treatment is used to correct and reverse the results of previously administered Dermal Filler.

Is Hyaluronidase safe?

Our doctor only administers a safe amount of the dissolving solution, which is safe and does not cause harm.

Does dissolving dermal filler affect the skin?

Hyaluronidase does not permanently affect your natural hyaluronic acid and only permanently removes filler. Skin laxity, crepiness, or wrinkling following the treatment may be due to a loss of volume from filler being removed.

FAQs

Dermal fillers are naturally dissolved by your body over a period of 6 – 18 months, through a process using a compound called hyaluronidase.

Dermal filler dissolving injection could potentially break down too much of the filler, as well as your body’s own natural HA. This is why you should have the treatment done at a professional clinic, such as Continental Skin Clinic.

Dissolving dermal filler is not painful, and we provide numbing creams, numbing injections and skin cooling techniques to minimise and discomfort.

It is recommended not to dissolve dermal fillers for cosmetic reasons for 14 days after the initial treatment, as you are unlikely to have seen the final result due to swelling.

After the hyaluronidase enzyme has broken down the hyaluronic acid, your body will naturally excrete the debris through your lymphatic system. This usually takes a couple of weeks, and during that time your body will also replenish some natural hyaluronic acid to the area.

You may experience potential bruising and visible swelling immediately after the injection. These side effects are resolved within 48-72 hours, depending on the area and how much filler is dissolved.

Only dermal fillers made from hyaluronic acid can be dissolved with dermal fillers dissolving injections.

If you are unhappy with a previous filler treatment, for example, your lips could look puffy leave you feeling self-conscious, by dissolving the dermal filler, you’ll be able to correct any issues.
