Before

How do you prepare for your lip pigmentation treatment? We suggest following specific practices for a successful procedure. But first, schedule a consultation with our specialists to discuss your goals and needs before treatment.

We suggest you refrain from using tanning beds, and limit sun exposure 30 days before your session. Also, any laser hair removal in the lip area, or chemical peels on the face should be avoided 7 days before your treatment. Finally, on the day of your appointment, avoid wearing makeup.

After

We suggest maximum sun protection for 30 days after your treatment. We also recommend applying a lip balm containing spf30+ reapplied throughout the day.

You may notice slight erythema and swelling to the lip area, however this will subside after a couple of hours. 

Our aestheticians will advise all necessary after-care to follow after the treatment to maximise your results, and avoid any complications.

What procedures can be used for lip pigmentation treatment?

Laser Lip Bleaching

Laser is scientifically proven to break down the pigment in the skin. Similar to how laser removes tattoos ink and treats hyperpigmentation, it is used to break down the pigment in the lips.

Yes, this treatment is safe to use with dermal fillers, lip boosting injections and other lip treatments. It is best to have Lip Pigmentation Treatment at least 2 weeks after or before any injectable treatments on the lips.

For patients who have had a lip tattoo i.e. Semi-Permanent Make Up or “naturalisation”, a consultation is essential, and a different treatment plan/protocol will be discussed on a case to case basis.

The treatment is very safe, you will feel a tingling and warm sensation which will subside immediately after the treatment. There is no need for a topical anaesthetic to be applied to the lips.

On an average, 10 treatments are needed, 2-3 weeks apart, but this can vary on individual cases. Final results are visible 3 months after the last session.

Results from laser lip bleaching are permanent, however it will not stop more hyperpigmentation from occurring on the lips. Lifestyle habits and hormonal changes can impact pigmentations on the lips.
