What is the Platelet-Rich Plasma Skin Treatment?

Our Platelet-rich plasma Skin Rejuvenation (PRP) is a medical treatment that utilises the plasma that is extracted from the patient’s blood. A small amount of blood is drawn from the patient’s arm and is put into a centrifuge machine that spins rapidly, separating its components. Platelet-rich plasma is then injected into the areas being treated. After the platelet-rich plasma injections, the plasma releases growth factors that stimulate cell repair, cell turnover, collagen and elastin production and also increase the vascularity of the treated area.

Our PRP therapy is performed by qualified professionals who know the proper steps to take to ensure a safe and effective procedure that meets patients’ demands.

This treatment can be combined with the following procedures:

– Exosomes Skin Booster Treatment

– Skin Booster Injections

– Chemical Peels

– Hollywood Carbon Laser Peel

– IPL

However, during your consultation, you can discuss the combination of treatments. This will be followed by a bespoke treatment plan to target your specific skin concerns and goals.

Before

During your consultation session, our specialists will design a personalised plan for you.

However, we generally advise you to avoid certain medications like blood thinners (Aspirin) 24 hours before the treatment and to minimise alcohol intake to reduce the risk of bruising.

We also recommend avoiding any skincare products containing active ingredients like retinol for at least 24 hours before the treatment. Schedule your facials and energy-based procedures before the injections, not after.

After

After your Platelet Rich Plasma Skin Treatment, you may experience swelling, bruising, redness, and a tingling sensation. However, these symptoms are temporary and usually settle within a few hours up to a day.

To minimise the risk of bruising, avoid alcohol, hot drinks, and spicy food after treatment. Also, refrain from performing any strenuous exercises, including going to the gym, taking hot baths, and using saunas, as these activities can cause bruising and increase the chances of infection.

If you experience any unusual discomfort after your treatment, please notify us. We are always available to provide timely support.

The Science Behind PRP

The use of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) as a treatment for skin rejuvenation has been increasing rapidly over the past decade.

Platelets have become the logical choice for the replacement and renewal of cells, tissues, or organs due to the low invasiveness of the procedure, high rates of healing, easy availability, and abundance of growth factors. PRP is considered to be a growth factor cocktail which promotes wound healing, angiogenesis, and tissue remodelling. Studies have shown that PRP has around 578 different types of proteins and growth factors thast can stimulate stem cells and improve cellular proliferation, differentiation, and regeneration. Hence, PRP can lead to successful skin rejuvenation and hyaluronic acid production (Nanda et al., 2021)
