5 Reasons Why Men Should Take Care of Their Skin

Men Need Skincare Too

Proper skincare is usually a part of a woman’s daily beauty regimen. But men, you should be just as concerned about taking care of your skin because it will keep your skin looking better, fresher, and younger in the long run. Proper skincare doesn’t have to be difficult but it doesn’t only involve washing your face with water. It just needs to be a consistent part of your daily routine, like brushing your teeth.

The skin is the largest organ your body has, and it works hard to protect your body from a wide range of harmful elements. Every aspect of your life has a knock-on effect on your skin. From what you eat, to how much water you drink, whether you work indoors or outdoors or live in the city. Beautiful skin is a lifelong process. If you want gorgeous skin in your 40s  good choices made early are key for clear and younger-looking skin. Also, preventing potential skin problems early in life is easier than trying to fix skin issues in the future.

A daily skincare routine for men should include cleansing your face, applying a daily moisturiser, and sunscreen. For mens skin care, it may add a few extra minutes to the time you spend getting ready, but it is worth it, and here’s why:

1. Improve acne and blemishes.

In the morning and before bed, make sure you are washing your skin with a gentle cleanser. Cleansers are excellent for mens skin care in removing dead skin, pollutants, oil, dirt, and bacteria. Avoid cleansers that have sulfates, which can be drying for the skin. If you have sensitive skin, choose a fragrance-free cleanser. If you are prone to acne, then using a high-quality facial cleanser can help improve the look of your skin. And it should be a daily part of men’s skincare regimen. Ingredients such as those found in the Dermaquest Peptide Glyco Cleanser can exfoliate your skin, smooth textural irregularities, and improve your complexion with Glycolic Acid and Lactic Acid which specifically targets acne and blemishes.

2. Protect your skin from the signs of ageing.

Fine lines and wrinkles can appear on the skin and if you aren’t doing anything about them, then you may begin to look older than you actually are. Men’s skincare routine should include applying a daily moisturiser. Moisturisers aren’t only for dry skin. You can use a moisturiser to add more hydration to your skin, but there are also oil-free moisturisers that are great for oily, acne skin. Moisturising your skin can combat signs of ageing, while keeping your skin hydrated and feeling supple. In some cases, it can even reverse existing damage.

3. Shield skin from harmful UVB rays.

Too much sunlight can cause damage to your skin thats why it is an important factor for skin care routine for men. The impact of sun exposure doesn’t happen overnight, but gradually over time. Especially if your skin is unprotected, you will begin to see the effects of it. By moisturising damaged skin and applying sunscreen regularly, you can protect your skin from not only ageing quickly, but also from burning UVA and UVB rays that can cause sunburn, skin cancer, wrinkles, sunspots and ageing skin. It is recommended to wear SPF 30 on a daily basis, especially on cloudy days.

4. Treat your skin gently

Daily cleansing and shaving can take a toll on your skin during men skin care routine. Avoid using strong soaps and cleansers that can strip oil from the skin. Try and go for a mild and gentle cleanser to use for every day.

Shave carefully:  To protect and lubricate your skin, apply shaving cream, lotion or gel before shaving. For the closest shave, use a clean, sharp razor. Shave in the direction the hair grows, not against it.
Pat dry: After washing or bathing, gently pat or blot your skin dry with a towel. This allows some moisture to remain on your skin and stops you rubbing aggressively against your skin.

5. Look your best at any age.

Maintaining a regular mens skin care routine that includes a cleanser, moisturiser, and sunscreen are a few basic things you can do to keep you looking and feeling better for many years to come. By maintaining a consistent skincare routine, you can look good at any age.

You can take your skin regime of mens skin care routine a step further by including relaxing facials performed by our skin specialists. They will specifically tailor your facial treatment to your skin type and needs so that you will achieve glowing skin with a rejuvenated, healthier and more even complexion.

In conclusion

In conclusion, skincare is for all! If you’ve got skin, then it should be looked after. There are many steps you can take at home to look after your skin, prevent signs of ageing, and treat skin concerns. However, at Continental Skin Clinic there are many treatment routes we can offer to take your skincare to the next level!  So whether you’re concerned with pigmentation from sun exposure, or new dynamic wrinkles from ageing, or perhaps you have acne that you’d like to heal, we have a treatment to help.
